It is the focus of the Worcester Public Schools to provide a hands-on, sequential visual arts program where students learn basic arts literacy while learning higher order thinking skills. Students learn to communicate their ideas and beliefs reflecting cultural diversity and interdisciplinary study through a variety of art mediums, techniques and technology. Through the visual arts program students appreciate the value of art in their daily lives and learn to contribute to society through their art.

ART WORK ON DISPLAY AT FIRST NIGHT WORCESTER
Art teachers and their students have been busy creating large scale posters reminiscent of the 1960's!  These beautiful pieces will be on display during the New Year's Eve celebration. If you are at the Worcester Art Museum, look for a portrait of Matthias Waschek, the new Director, created by Phillip Olson's Union Hill students.  Portraits of Abbie Hoffman, MLK, Jr., Malcolm X, Jimmy Hendrix and others will be at either Mechanics Hall or in the Music Tent on the Common. Art teachers will also be working at the Crafts Table to assist children in creating parade pieces.  Come on down to say Hello!
